Definition:Passive cooling system using eutectic plates that are pre-frozen and provide cooling through phase-change melting process. No engine power or fuel required during operation.
How It Works::
1. Eutectic plates frozen overnight in cold room or blast freezer (-25°C to -35°C)
2. Frozen plates installed in insulated vehicle
3. During delivery, plates gradually melt, absorbing heat and maintaining cargo temperature
4. Duration: 8-18 hours depending on plate capacity, insulation, and load
Advantages::
- Zero emissions during delivery
- Silent operation
- No fuel cost during operation
- Mechanical simplicity (no moving parts)
- Excellent for altitude (performance not affected)
- Limited duration (not suitable for long haul)
- Requires freezing facility access every night
- Higher initial cost
- Cannot adjust temperature during operation
- Limited pull-down capacity
Disadvantages::
Best Applications:: Urban delivery, last-mile frozen distribution, known route durations
