The Problem We Saw
South Africa’s cold chain logistics sector is essential but fragmented.
Businesses needing cold chain services – whether frozen food storage, pharmaceutical transport, temperature monitoring, or any other specialized service – face a frustrating reality: there’s no comprehensive resource to find and compare providers.
The current approach requires:
- Hours of scattered Google searches
- Following unreliable word-of-mouth recommendations
- Expensive trial-and-error with unsuitable providers
- Piecing together incomplete information from multiple sources
- Navigating industry jargon without context
The result?
- Businesses struggle to find appropriate providers
- Service providers miss potential customers
- The industry lacks transparency and standardization
- Decision-making happens with incomplete information
We decided to change that.

Our Story
Founded by Operators, For the Industry
ColdChainSA was founded in 2025 by the team at The Frozen Food Courier, a frozen food delivery service operating in Gauteng and Western Cape.
Why did a courier company create an industry directory?
After 8+ years and many thousands of kilometers operating in South Africa’s cold chain logistics sector, we consistently encountered the same questions:
- “Do you also handle pharmaceutical deliveries?” (We don’t – we specialize in frozen food)
- “Can you recommend a cold storage facility in Cape Town?”
- “Who provides temperature monitoring equipment?”
- “Where do I find packaging suppliers?”
We could help informally, pointing customers toward providers we knew. But there was no comprehensive, objective resource we could direct them to.
We had two choices:
- Continue offering ad-hoc recommendations
- Build the resource the industry needed
We chose option 2.

Our Commitment to Objectivity
The Trust Challenge
Here’s the challenge with this directory:
We (The Frozen Food Courier) are listed in the directory alongside other courier services.
This creates a potential conflict of interest. How do you trust that we’re being objective when we’re also a service provider?
Here’s how we maintain credibility:
Equal Treatment Policy
All businesses – including The Frozen Food Courier – are:
- Listed using identical templates
- Evaluated with the same criteria
- Provided the same information fields
- Given equal placement opportunities
We DO NOT:
- Give The Frozen Food Courier preferential placement
- Manipulate rankings to favor our business
- Suppress or hide competitor listings
- Feature TFFC prominently on the homepage
- Use biased language in listings
Transparent Disclosure
We’re upfront about the relationship:
- This About page clearly states The Frozen Food Courier founded ColdChainSA
- Our footer credits TFFC as the founder
- The Frozen Food Courier’s business listing includes this disclosure
- We’re not hiding the connection – we’re transparent about it
Why Objectivity Matters
The directory’s value depends on trust.
If businesses suspect bias, they won’t use ColdChainSA. If competitors believe they’re being treated unfairly, they won’t engage. If the industry sees this as a marketing tool rather than a genuine resource, it fails.
We understand this.
Long-term value comes from serving the industry honestly – not from short-term self-promotion.
Verification
You can verify our objectivity:
- Browse competitor listings (they’re comprehensive and fair)
- Compare The Frozen Food Courier’s listing to others (same template)
- Review our educational content (focuses on industry, not TFFC)
- Check our ranking methodology (based on objective criteria, not preference)
If you ever see bias, please let us know. ColdChainSA’s credibility is more valuable than any competitive advantage.
